Body Procedures

Liposuction/Liposculpture
Liposuction is a cutting-edge procedure offered at Dr Priti Shukla’s Cosmetic Surgery Clinic. Liposuction is a treatment that can be used to eliminate excess fat from areas that are hard to target with traditional measures like a stringent diet or exercise. Also commonly known as liposculpture for its ability to reshape areas of the body dramatically, the liposuction procedure begins with Dr. Priti Shukla making a tiny incision in the targeted area to access the fat tissue just below the skin. Through this incision, she inserts a thin tube, called a cannula, that is used to remove unwanted fat gently. Dr. Priti Shukla uses an aspirator to suction the fat out through the cannula. The procedure can be used to target such problem areas as the belly, thighs, and back.

The recovery process for liposuction is relatively short and the pain associated with the procedure is relatively minor. In the first few days following the procedure, patients are asked to wear a compression garment and refrain from physical activity. Full recovery can take up to several months.

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
An abdominoplasty, also referred to as a tummy tuck, is a popular body contouring option at Dr Priti Shukla’s Cosmetic Surgery Clinic. Patients who have unwanted fat in the belly region can achieve dramatic results in just one visit to Dr.Priti Shukla. The tummy tuck procedure allows for a complete recontouring of the abdominal area, traditionally one of the hardest regions to target with traditional diet and exercise. Whether patients have excess skin, fat, or other tissue as a result of age, weight loss, or childbirth, Dr. Priti Shukla has the skill and dedication needed to make their dreams into reality.

The tummy tuck procedure begins with Dr.Priti Shukla making a thin incision along the lower edge of the belly, from hipbone to hipbone, that is used to access the tissue and musculature below the skin. Once the incision is made, Dr. Priti Shukla removes unwanted fat, tissue, and skin from the belly while tightening the muscles in the region with sutures. The procedure is a major operation, but generally leaves few side effects after recovery. Patients who wish to possess a firmer, more shapely waistline with fewer wrinkles, creases, and blemishes throughout the region often turn to the tummy tuck procedure to achieve their desired results.

Post-Bariatric Body Lift
Patients who have undergone bariatric surgery and have lost significant amounts of weight generally have a hard time shedding the excess skin and tissue that remain after massive weight loss. Although the procedure has dramatically improved their health and appearance, many times post-bariatric body lift is needed as the final step in the rejuvenation process.

The procedure can take many forms; it can be as minor as some simple liposuction and skin tightening or as robust as a full body makeover. The process of deciding what work is to be done is important to the final result and must be completed before surgery. Accordingly, Dr. Priti Shukla schedules an initial consultation to discuss the various treatments methods and options for any patient who is interested in the procedure.

The procedure itself involves multiple plastic surgery techniques that can include suturing, liposuction, excess skin and fat removal, and skin tightening. Because this is a relatively major procedure, patients must be in good physical health before undergoing the surgery. Often, a body lift is performed in conjunction with other cosmetic body procedures such as breast augmentation and breast reduction, to ensure a comprehensive, full-body makeover.

Reconstructive Plastic Surgery
In addition to cosmetic procedures, Dr. Priti Shukla performs medically necessary procedures as well. Her passion lies in reconstructing the faces and bodies of people who have cosmetic birth defects, have suffered disfiguring burns, or post-traumatic scarring after accidents. This work has allowed her to see a diverse spectrum of patients and has given him invaluable experience both professionally and personally.

Patients who have been disfigured for any of the above reasons may experience dramatic personal and emotional benefits through cosmetic reconstructive surgery. In many cases, these procedures allow patients to resume living their lives and enjoying themselves, free of the emotional pain and social stigma of disfigurement.
